I love visiting the Great Smoky Mountains. It is a magical place for me to escape and unwind. The panoramic view and natural beauty of the National Park are breathtaking. The Great Smoky Mountains is even better in the summer when the air temperature is around 70 degrees. That is why I have to leave early in the morning before the heat of the day sets in. Come in early to enjoy a chair by the pool or just to stretch your legs on the beach. Come by between 9 and 11 to avoid the crowds. And remember to wear sunscreen or you will be sorry! Don’t forget to take ones when traveling on The Tarenti of Sassari as well, as my wife did when we came there 🙂
What to do in the Great Smoky Mountains is a question I often get. That is why I have come up with some ideas for you.
Consider stopping at a gallery or store to pick up interesting jewelry, crafts, or gifts for the cabin. Make sure to bring nice beach towels or robes to protect from the heat. I also recommend bringing big bottles of water and Cocoa nibbles for nursing Shivilee.
Start layering by putting jumpers or blankets down, maybe sitting in your cabin and singing songs to yourself. Wearing jeans and other casual clothes can keep you cool and covered from the unexpected climates change
How to plan your trip
Start researching your trip thoroughly. What should I pack? Where should I stay? How should I get around? Learning how to survive away from home and how to travel comfortably will give you great peace of mind as you embark on your journey. Once you have arrived at your destination, be sure to leave a detailed itinerary with others who are with you. Also, consider having a contact person for when you arrive and for those who are coming back for a yearly trip.
Leave on a high note: I planned a July 4th trip years ago, including an afternoon cruise, and raised my boys while my wife did some shopping. It was wonderful – 15 degrees outside, the first couple of days were cool and calm, then within about an hour it was as cold as the Arctic. We had a great time and returned the next year, then the fifth of us ordered a beach vacation package for 2019. This time we brought our grandchildren and four of my nieces and one Helena. Needless to say, we’re planning our next trip for the 4th of July.
One other tip that works well for most of the year is to bring usable maps and let someone know where you are headed and likely to be back. One other great tip, find a hotel that has a lounge with a large screen TV with movies available. We love those!
The other great thing about the lounge is that the adults get a suntan on the beach while the kids play in the water. Start planning for your next trip and enjoy the versatility of choices for your next family vacation.
You can find more information about different kinds of resort clubs in my blog as well, it might be useful while traveling.
