Fishing Holidays at Port Macquarie — Where to Stay, Where to Fish

Port Macquarie is close to two river systems (the Hastings and the Camden Haven), a coastal national park, and offshore reefs. That’s in addition to the natural attractions of wildlife, rainforests, beaches, and fishing. Port Macquarie holidays can be as tranquil or as dynamic as you wish. There’s a little something in the city for everyone.

Port Macquarie holidays are perfect for families with the children, who will have plenty of things to do and see. The Hastings River runs through the city and cuts through the Winnalla Ranges through to Eastland. The Otways, which run out to sea, is nearby and attract keen surfers, keen fishing, and keen cyclists. The Port Macquarie Highlands National Park, 40 km north of the city, is a fantastic place for bushwalking and can easily be accessed by car, bus, or train. Only an hour’s drive from the city, you might want to escape the city life for a day or two and enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the Hastings and the Otways.

Port Macquarie is a lively regional center, close to everything central. The city has excellent access to the mainland and the Islands, with ferry and light rail links. There are plenty of shopping and dining opportunities on the waterfront and the mid- Plenty region has many Bed and Breakfast and guesthouse accommodation opportunities. The central region has ample daylight and is a great time to visit.
